An Introduction to Ljubljana
This place possesses versatile history and culture, with Slavic and Roman influences everywhere you look. And the best part? It’s not too big, so you can wander around and explore at your own pace. There are terrific places to see in Ljubljana. You’ll come across all sorts of neat stuff, like old streets made of unique stones, cozy spots to grab some coffee, and some seriously impressive architecture from back in the day. Oh, and remind yourself to check out Ljubljana Castle – it’s up on a hill and gives you a stunning view of the city and surrounding nature. There’s also some killer food to be had, with local and international flavours mixing it up at the Central Marketplace and along the banks of the Ljubljanica River.
Slovenia’s Magnificent Dragon Bridge
The Ljubljana River is quite intriguing, as it has another name that adds to its mystique – a river with seven names. The mystery lies in the several times that the river flows underground and reappears further up.
When you visit the city you should walk across the Dragon Bridge. At first glance, it might not seem like anything special with its old statues that have faded over time. But as you stroll along the river, you start to notice its unique charm and how it stands out as a symbol of the city’s mythical history. Plus, those dragon sculptures are pretty cool, right? Slovenians are really into their dragons and you can see them all over the place in Ljubljana’s art and culture. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re ever in the area.
Tivoli Park Welcomes City Visitors
However, if you’re planning a trip to Ljubljana, I highly recommend you also check out Tivoli Park. Fortunately, you find it in the capital city itself. Actually, it is a splendid spot to escape the crazy pace of city living. Here you stroll through tree-lined pathways, explore the charming Jakopič Promenade, or relax by the tranquil ponds. The park also houses the International Centre of Graphic Arts and the Tivoli Castle.
